About us
Hi, I’m Kerry Clayton, founder and CEO of Trend Tonic. Since 2019, I’ve been making custom earrings to make ears happy. I’d love to tell you my story. Don’t worry I’ll make it brief!
About me
I was born with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that causes daily pain. As someone that is constantly uncomfortable I wanted to create a range of earrings that offered mood boosting bright colours and patterns, whilst also being hypoallergenic and lightweight. (Find out more about Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome here)
As a mother of two young children it’s important to me that everything I wear is functional, looks good and is zero fuss. I design shapes that flatter, are timeless and easy to wear for both the school run and rare nights out.
Why cork?
After months of research I chose and fell in love with cork leather. A lightweight, durable and sustainable alternative to plastic based faux and animal leather. Cork offers the wearer the robustness of animal leather with the fun colours of faux leather without any of the negative environmental effects. The backs are intentionally left blank to retain the eco credentials and they can also be used as essential oil diffusers!
The cork material also has the added benefit of being both vegan and sustainable, making our ethical earrings suitable for everyone.
Now we are a few years on and Trend Tonic is in national magazines, worn regularly on TV including by ITV's Loose Women, has won multiple awards including Dragons Den's Theo Paphitis Small Business award and is on the BAFTA approved sustainable supplier list for film and television!
